On October 17, 2009, Hartford Connecticut rocked! What an outpouring of Christian women, representing over 200 churches, gathering from Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Cape Cod, Main, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and who knows where else. What an honor and privilege for me to be a part of this amazing group of women. 3300 strong, the conference exceeded all expectations. A last minute addition of a mini-conference was added on Friday night for the 500 on the waiting list. 200 attended that!
I was awed and inspired by these women. Full of life and joy, love poured out on all who walked in the doors. A spirit of community permeated the premises as the body of Christ met to worship, pray, gather, and share among themselves. A spirit of hospitality covered the large church that opened its doors for the event, and a spirit of community overflowed as the two churches across the street opened their doors, offering their sanctuary and fellowship halls as meeting rooms for the large crowds. My workshop was attened by over 300 women. Unfortunately we had to close the doors when all the seats were full. My apologies to those who expressed their inability to attend. With so many amazing speakers I'm certain that the Lord orchestrated divine encounters at each worshop attended. I send a special word of thanks to all the amazing women who shared their stories with me.
I can assure you that grandmothers are alive and well in this country. Loving, giving, sharing their hearts with their grandchildren they are making a difference in the lives of families and in the fabric of our country. To each of you I say, "keep up the good work. You are planting seeds that will one day grow into mighty oaks. You are indeed doing the Lord's work. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news."
As many at the workshop did not get a copy of the handout I was asked to post it on my website. For those interested the DVD can be purchased through Iron Sharpens Iron. My prayer is that the lecture and worksheet will encourage each woman to "fan the flame of her god-given gift(s)" as she passes down a legacy of faith to her grandchildren. Be creative, be bold, listen to that still small voice that says "this is the way. Walk in it." Nothing is impossible with God. Remember the disciples and Moses, and Noah. Their best work was done in their golden years. The best is yet to come. Thank you for your support and encouragement. Together as we follow the Lord and his leadings grandmother power can transform families and the world!
