TEN WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED AND BE AN INFLUENCE WITH IN-TOWN GRANDCHILDREN

Maintaining and developing relationships with grandchildren takes a lot of time and effort on your part, but more than well worth it.  Try some of these suggestions to stay connected and be an influence:

1.  Stop by and pick up your grandchild for an ice cream cone or a quick trip to the park at least 3 times a week.
2.  Have your own car seat in your car so you can pick them up at a moment's notice.
3.  Drive your grandchild to or from school once a week, taking time for a special treat on the way home.
4.  Keep your grandchild one day a week if their mother works.
5.  Pick up your grandchild on Sundays and take them to church with you.  Better yet, have a sleep over Saturday night!
6.  Sign them up and pay for museum school, zoo school, or vacation bible school and provide transportation to and from.
7.  Get your older granchild involved in a book club with you to discuss the books.
8.  Begin traditions such as favorite restaurants or stores for shopping.
9.  Needle point a Christmas stocking for each grandchild.
10. Make a scrapbook of memoires for each grandchild with your special memories.
